How do FIBCs prevent explosions and static electricity?

FIBCs are flexible, woven plastic bags with excellent foldability, making them very convenient for transporting and transferring bulk materials. Also known as ton bags, ton bags, or FIBCs, the domestic concept of FIBCs remains largely unchanged from a few years ago, often considered to be containers for minerals and other miscellaneous items.

 

In fact, over the past decade, the use of FIBCs has been evolving. From primarily being used for minerals and miscellaneous items, they have evolved into a large-scale packaging method for the fine chemical, pharmaceutical intermediate, and food industries, adapting to various needs and offering customized designs. FIBCs are further subdivided into different functional categories, such as anti-static, conductive, anti-expansion, and pallet-free, to meet diverse customer requirements.

 

Advantages of FIBCs: Compared to other logistics containers, FIBCs offer unique packaging features, including: they can be easily folded and packed for easy transport to the customer; they are suitable for transporting solid materials in powder, flake, or granular form; they have a very low package-to-product weight ratio, typically weighing only 2.5-3 kg per ton of cargo; they can be stored and transported independently, without the need for other logistics containers; and they are easy to package and handle using standard equipment.

 

How are FIBCs explosion-proof and anti-static?

FIBCs are primarily used to package flammable and explosive hazardous materials, such as chemicals. They are typically made of PP and PE, which have high electrical resistivity and poor water absorption. Therefore, plastic FIBCs are prone to generating static electricity during loading, unloading, handling, and transportation. Static electricity ignition is particularly susceptible when plastic FIBCs are used in environments (or locations) where they are used, or when the materials they contain contain materials with low ignition energy.

In flammable, explosive, or combustible dust environments, the loading and unloading of bulk materials can generate significant static electricity due to friction. If not promptly eliminated, the accumulated static electricity can easily lead to sparks, potentially causing serious accidents such as combustion or explosions! To prevent the risk of static discharge, first, use Type C bulk bags (also known as conductive bulk bags or anti-static bulk bags) or Type D conductive explosion-proof bulk bags. Second, quickly remove the charge generated by friction from the bulk bags.
