The main reason for rotten edges on FIBC lifting straps is poor quality. The straps cannot withstand prolonged use and will break or rot at the edges, rendering the entire FIBC unusable. If you encounter this problem, it is strongly recommended that the entire FIBC be discarded and replaced with a new one from a different manufacturer.
Generally, there are three reasons for rotten lifting straps:
a) Overuse: Continuous lifting wears down the straps, causing them to reach their lifespan. If the FIBC has reached its lifespan or the number of uses required, a new strap should be purchased.
b) Rotten straps themselves: A significant factor is poor manufacturing quality, allowing only one or two uses. Even if the straps are rotten, but the overall bag is fine, you should replace the straps if possible.
c) Another important factor is the use of incorrect materials in the lifting straps. Using too much polypropylene and too little polyethylene will cause weathering. Since FIBCs are frequently used outdoors, rotten edges are inevitable. If this occurs, changing manufacturers as soon as possible is the right choice, even if you lack basic knowledge of lifting strap materials.
