Materials and Applications of Ton Bags

Sep 25, 2025

Ton bags are made primarily of polypropylene, mixed evenly with a small amount of stabilizing agents. The material is then melt-extruded through an extruder into a plastic film, cut into strands, and stretched. Heat-set to create high-strength, low-elongation PP strands, which are then woven and laminated to form a plastic woven fabric base. These are then sewn together with slings and other accessories to create ton bags. The woven material for ton bags has a thickness of 170-200 grams per square meter. Ton bags are medium-sized bulk containers and a type of containerized unit. They can be transported in a unitized manner using a crane or forklift. They are convenient for transporting large quantities of bulk powders, boasting a large capacity, light weight, and ease of loading and unloading. They are a common packaging material. They are characterized by their simple structure, low weight, foldability, small footprint, and low cost.
