If you are not familiar with the term ton bag, you may know about container bags. It is a kind of plastic woven bag. It is named a ton bag because of its large capacity. It is one of the favorite packaging methods for powdered goods or goods and commodities for long-distance transportation. So how does static electricity occur in goods in storage? What are the hazards of static electricity? How to prevent it?

There are two main reasons for the generation of static electricity.
One is the internal reason, that is, the conductive properties of the material;
The second is the external reason, that is, the mutual friction, rolling, and collision between materials. The packaging of many commodities has the internal conditions for the generation of static electricity. In addition, storage is inseparable from the operations of handling, stacking, and covering. Therefore, friction, rolling, and collision will inevitably occur between the packaging. Plastic packaging of general commodities makes it easy to generate static electricity due to mutual friction during the stacking process.
The high static potential formed on the surface of the packaging is very likely to cause static sparks. Its hazards are mainly manifested in two aspects:
One is to cause explosion accidents. For example, if the contents of the package are flammable substances, when the vapors they emit reach a certain ratio with the air, or when the solid dust reaches a certain concentration (i.e., the explosion limit), they will explode once they encounter static sparks.
Second, electric shock occurs. For example, static high-potential discharge occurs during transportation, which causes discomfort to the operator. This often happens when plastic-packaged goods are transported in warehouses. Static high-potential discharge occurs due to strong friction during transportation and stacking, and even operators are knocked down by static discharge.
First, we must control the static electricity of packaged items. Similar to the transfer of flammable and explosive items, we should try to reduce the shaking in and between ton bags and reduce friction. We can also change the loading and unloading methods as follows. Four hanging open-ton bags.
Secondly, during the storage process, appropriate measures should be taken to quickly eliminate the static electricity that has occurred. We can set up a grounding wire in the warehouse, frequently sprinkle water on the warehouse to maintain a certain humidity or place a conductive floor under the goods.
