The lifespan of a FIBC is related to the amount of UV-resistant masterbatch used.

Sep 07, 2025

FIBCs are often exposed to sunlight outdoors, and the amount of sunlight varies from region to region, leading to the misconception that the UV protection provided by the FIBC is insufficient. It is recommended to increase the amount of UV-resistant masterbatch used in the FIBC to improve product quality and extend its lifespan.

The main raw and auxiliary materials used in the processing of FIBCs are generally the following:
1. Raw Materials:
FIBCs are made of virgin material. Consider whether the raw materials are fresh pellets, whether excessive recycled material is added, and whether modifiers (calcium carbonate masterbatch) are added. The addition of modifiers can significantly reduce the aging resistance of PP woven fabric.
2. Masterbatch: The price of masterbatch varies greatly. Some pigments can provide anti-aging benefits for FIBCs, but they also significantly impact their lifespan. The use of surface-coated rutile titanium dioxide masterbatch, the use of highly weather-resistant yellow pigments, and the presence of free copper in the blue pigment can all significantly impact the lifespan of the FIBC. 3. The form and amount of UV inhibitor added can significantly impact the aging performance of bulk bags. Powdered UV inhibitors, due to their significant differences in specific gravity and size from PP particles, will settle and be difficult to evenly disperse into the PP pellets. This can result in some flat yarns being very good while others being very poor, thus affecting the aging performance of the entire woven fabric. However, UV inhibitor masterbatches with a similar size and specific gravity to PP do not present this problem.

UV inhibitor masterbatches are added to bulk bags as required, and the UV content can be adjusted based on individual customer needs.
1. UV Content of Masterbatch:
The UV inhibitor masterbatch content varies significantly from factory to factory, and the quality and price also vary significantly. If a foreign company only specifies the amount of UV inhibitor masterbatch to be added, the supplier may use a low-UV, lower-cost masterbatch, resulting in insufficient UV protection in the bulk bag. Low UV content generally doesn't present a problem when bulk bags have a short turnover cycle. However, if a batch of bulk bags is used for a while, they can break, giving the foreign company the impression that the UV inhibitor masterbatch used by the factory is of unstable quality.

2. The masterbatch formulation should consider both cost-effectiveness and the lifespan of the FIBC. Masterbatch formulations vary between factories, and whether the formulation takes into account the various factors that affect the lifespan of the FIBC determines its stability in various climatic conditions.
3. Masterbatch Production: Mature and stable masterbatch production process parameters can minimize UV damage during processing.
4. Masterbatch Supplier Brand Awareness: Generally, manufacturers of FIBCs are well-versed in the industry and rarely encounter quality issues. They select reliable, long-term masterbatch suppliers who strive to improve their product quality and service levels in all aspects, maintain standardized systems to ensure the long-term stability of their products, and avoid arbitrarily using low-cost, low-quality raw materials or arbitrarily reducing the UV content of the masterbatch.

Climate, raw material quality, and the UV content of the anti-ultraviolet masterbatch are the three major factors that influence the performance of FIBCs. These factors must be carefully managed.
